The walk follows the Union Canal and then the Water of Leith. It is about 16km, and would take 4 hours. It is on level paths with good surfaces. There are steps going down at Slateford (84), Roseburn (24), Dean Village (20) and going up at Canonmills (24). Walkers can do the whole walk or just a section. We will set out from St Albert’s at 1.30pm on Sunday 6th April.
(1) St Albert’s to Union Canal via Meadows, Bruntsfield Links, Gilmore Place Leamington Road. 1.6km, 20mins. (2) Along the Union Canal from Leamington Road to Water of Leith at Slateford, 3.5km, 45 mins
Along the Water of Leith (3) Slateford to Saughton Park, 2km, 30 mins. 20 minute REST (4) Saughton Park to Dean Village, 5km, 70mins (5) Dean Village to Stockbridge 1km, 20 mins. (6) Stockbridge to Canonmills 1km, 20mins. (7) Canonmills to Leith (Commercial Street) 2km, 30mins (8) Tram /Bus /Taxi / Uber /Ambulance! / Pub?
